Membership is open to any Oilheat dealer, equipment manufacturer, wholesaler, or other individual working for an Oilheat industry-related company. And, you will automatically enjoy membership in ESPA, the Empire State Petroleum Association. You'll join hundreds of industry colleagues who share your concerns and who are working to create a more prosperous environment for independent petroleum marketers. ESPA is a member of the Petroleum Marketers Association of America (PMAA), a national federation representing marketers in 47 states, so your membership expands your network capabilities and your ability to shape industry events. ESPA also includes the New York Oil Heating Association (NYOHA) in the New York City Metropolitan Area and the Oil Heat Institute of Long Island (OHILI).

Membership in OHI-ENY and ESPA affords you a strong voice in state and federal government. ESPA identifies and assesses new legislation that may impact upon your business and works vigorously to help shape governmental policy and outcomes. It introduces key legislation to help marketers better compete and maintain profitability and the viability of their marketplace as a whole, including compliance, taxation, transportation and other important issues.

The Oil Heat Institute of Eastern New York supports its members with outstanding benefits that might not otherwise be available to a smaller company. These include:

Group Health Insurance plans through several carriers are available to the employees of member companies. This benefit is especially valuable to the smaller dealer, but participants include the largest dealers as well. We will be offering NYPACT Worker's Compensation Insurance through ESPA. This insurance has been custom-designed for petroleum marketers and is administered by First Cardinal Corporation. Since 1992, The Oil Heat Institute of Eastern New York has used its resources to demonstrate and promote the value of converting to an Oilheat system. After promotions conducted in 1994, 1995 and 1996, OHIENY confirmed that nearly 4,000 renovations and new equipment sales were completed.

The Oil Heat Institute of Eastern New York continues to be pro-active on behalf of its members through these challenging times of volatile energy prices. We look forward to continuing our tradition of research, education and promotion so that Oilheat will take its place as the fuel of choice in our area.

Types of Membership

Regular: A sole proprietorship, a partnership or a corporation that is actively engaged in the retail sale of home heating fuels and has its principal office in, or actively markets in, one of the following seventeen counties of New York: Albany, Clinton, Columbia, Delaware, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Montgomery, Otsego, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren or Washington. Such businesses in other counties may be considered for Participating Membership (see below).

Associate: This supportive category includes any individual or business entity engaged, directly or indirectly, in commercial activity related to the petroleum industry. Associate members are eligible to hold office as provided by the by-laws and may participate in all programs offered by OHI-ENY.

Participating:

Heating Oil Dealer: An individual or business entity described under "Regular" who does not actively market, or have its principal office, in the core counties listed but wishes to support OHI-ENY's educational and promotional activity, programs and standards. Such members are eligible to participate in all programs offered by OHI-ENY.
Sustaining Member: Includes any individual who is retired and is no longer engaged in an eligible business, or who formerly held regular membership status in OHI-ENY and has disposed of his/her business interests. This category provides for continuation in OHI-ENY programs.
